Slow Stitching

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am having a heck of a time with the time change this year.  I can’t sleep past 4:30 in the morning!  That’s a full hour before the coffee turns on!!!  As well, I’ve been fighting a seasonal cold that seems to be lingering on far too long.

Stitching has been slow this week.  I’ve been catching up on my little letters – a freebie at Temecula Quilt Company.  Two more rows and the alphabet will be complete.

One of the granddaughters wanted a nun’s habit for her saint’s speech at school.  I had fun creating this one.

I FINALLY finished my D4P quilt.  I put flannel on the back so it will be soft and cuddly for the winter months.

My niece had asked me if I would make her husband a t-shirt quilt from his stack of treasured shirts that were taking up space on a shelf in the closet.  We had fun arranging them and I am sure he will enjoy his Christmas gift from her.  I just hope he isn't upset that we cut up his shirts.  ;-)

Most of my slow stitching this week has taken the form of counted cross stitch.  I am trying to get this stocking done for Christmas this year.

The kids and grandkids were all here for Halloween.   I loved this picture of two of the little ones.  It makes me wonder what was going through his mind.

  6. I love the color scheme of your little letters. Did I miss where she posted the patterns for the pieced blocks! The Nun outfit was perfect! You get a lot done when your day lasts that long. I bet when that old cold is finally gone you will sleep better. The little ones are so cute.

  7. Too funny. I've also had a difficult time adjusting to the time change this year. It usually is easy to adjust, but somehow this week I've just not found I'm in the right time. I've also felt like I'm fighting a cold (hate that feeling as I'm totally paranoid of getting ill).

Love the Nun costume. Quacks me up.

  16. That t shirt quilt is going to be a hit at Christmas! What man wouldn't appreciate one? I think that would make a great gift for anyone with a bunch of t shirts sitting around. Unfortunately my husband has an aversion to any printed words on his clothes so he's out, but I've saved all the t shirts from vbs and vacations and will make my kids quilts from their shirts.

  20. Yep. I pretty much hate Daylight Savings Time and wish we'd leave it on Standard Time all year round (Arizona does--why can't we?).

For you to say you are doing "slow sewing" and then to come up in one post as much as I do in a six months makes me need to go and take a nap, I think.
Loved the nun's costume (bet you had a chance to study them a lot in Italy), and the two cute grands in their costumes at the end. Of course everything in the middle is lovely. Thank you!

  21. I hope it's just a quick little cold and not a down-and-outer! Ugh. I have been waking at 4:30ish, too! Way too early. You have been very busy - costumes, etc. Adorable grands you've got there - so much fun!

Is that Sebastian?! Why is he getting so huge?! My goodness. And Paige (I think? They're changing by the second!) is just the sweetest little nun.

  29. Your granddaughter is adorable as a nun! Reminds me of the year my daughter dressed as Mother Theresa when Halloween fell on a Sat. and the children were encouraged to come to Mass in costume. She was in the choir loft with me, and the priest kept looking up wondering who that nun was. We sure had him fooled!
